Jimmie Johnson knows that if you did not win races or first-class from top-five finishes, the appearance is that there is something wrong with the Hendrick Motorsports team.
But to hear Johnson tell it, the only problem is with the Cup winners four times in a row the same.
“We have always maintained that I had a good rhythm of walking the tightrope, and you step over it from time to time,” Johnson said Friday before heading to the Gillette Fusion in the channel ProGlide 500 Pocono]. “I have recently been stepping on the wrong side of this line and I need to return it and make sure that we finish where we should, and if we do not have a car that can win in the race, fine, we ‘ll just what we can get it.”
What Johnson had taken – or given to the rest of the garage – was a large dose of reality that the conflict could be Johnson. Got caught and grew up in an accident at Darlington, and it was a penalty kick to speed up in Dover and then crashed all on its own in Charlotte.
Is not uncommon to have Johnson declined during the season – began to slow in 2008, and had a summer slide in 2009 – the end of the sequence of 36.16 and 37 and raising eyebrows. He said that the last three in a row outside the end of the 10 top 13th, 12th and 33 August last.
Johnson, who place in the All-Star race was the result of trying to achieve a qualitative leap in the points race where there is no were on the line. A week later, Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, Johnson said he got loose weave, when first and second one occurred when only tried to push the car too hard.
Johnson said that shows the headings of “No. 48 team is off” when everything is still fine.
“You know it’s a fragile environment, and that anything can be changed, and you know it will not be long-term,” said Johnson. “This is why the last four years we were in a position like, ‘Hey, this is amazing, but at the same time, can be changed at every stage’.
“So when is going well, it is almost easy. And things just flow and work and you look great in the car and wonderful on the road hole, and everything”.
Hendrick team gets stronger, though, through those rough few weeks it seems that every year.
“It will not be good for you all the time or any person all the time,” said Johnson. “So I think it speaks to how, especially in the last four years the team was No. 48 and [then] and also shows how competitive this field is really the garage.
“I’ve got to respect all the drivers and teams and go out there and win that week in and week. Just something that happened in the past does not mean you are going to have that happen again.”
However, no difference count exactly the Sprint Cup Series team the most prominent for four years in a row. Johnson – thanks to three victories earlier this season – is the seventh in the standings, 204 points, has been appointed to the top but with a 151-point cushion in the 13th with 13 races left before the 12 Chase for the Sprint Cup field.
“We go through moments or periods of time where you struggle, it is clear that they’ve been really good,” said the current points leader Kevin Harvick Johnson and his team. “I do not know you could actually call a conflict even get through the whole year and see how the winds of the year.
“We have had a bad two weeks, some of what you do in some, but not to do. [We'll] just have to wait and see how the winds of a full year before they even see how that plays out every fact.”
